Aster 'Vasterival'

£8.50

(now symphyotrichum)

A refined and graceful aster known for its exceptionally long flowering season and elegant, airy habit. From late summer well into autumn, it produces a profusion of small, pale lilac-pink daisy-like flowers with golden centres, which fade gently to soft pink as they age. The fine-textured foliage and open branching give it a light, see-through quality perfect for weaving through mixed borders.

Named after the famous French garden of Princess Sturdza, 'Vasterival' is a favourite among garden designers for its naturalistic look and ease of growth. It’s highly attractive to pollinators and has excellent mildew resistance.

A superb choice for adding softness, movement, and late-season colour to borders.

Sold currently in 1-litre pots.

  • Height & Spread: 100–120cm x 60cm

  • Position: Full sun or light shade

  • Soil: Moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil

  • Flowering Time: August to October

Telegraph Top 20 Mail-Order Plant Nurseries

One of the Daily Telegraph’s Top 20 mail-order nurseries. The largest list of peonies in Scotland, ranging from herbaceous peonies, Itoh or intersectional peonies and tree peonies.

Gardens Illustrated 2019 Badge

One of Gardens Illustrated's 100 best plant nurseries in the UK: "Billy Carruthers is mad about peonies and has over 300 varieties on the nursery. In recent years he's exhibited them at the Chelsea Flower Show. However, they're just the tip of the iceberg for this nursery, midway between Glasgow and Edinburgh, Central Scotland"
